Broadland Aikido (Frank Burlingham 5th Dan) is once again holding their annual 'Big 3' Aikido course. These days the instructors also come from outside the UK so it's now the 'International Big 3' Aikido course.
Unfortunately the dates conflict with the Shobu AIkido Summer School (24 - 27 July) but ...

The basic details are as follows ...

We held our first session in the Owen Barnes room last night and it was great success.

It really is a pleasure to be in a room on our own rather than in part of a sports hall - no more shuttlecocks landing unexpectedly on the mat during training. The people at the Bob Carter Centre (both the staff and the badminton players) have been a pleasure to work with for the past couple of years but, like any group, we've wanted a room of our own.

Being on our own also means that we can go back to a more traditional format for a session including such things as sweeping the dojo before the class and having time to fold hakamas properly at the end of class because there's no-one waiting to take the space as soon as we finish.

A couple of dates for your diary...

The Owen Barnes room will not be available on the 26th July and 22nd November. On these days the Blood Transfusion people will be taking over the room.

So along with no classes on bank holiday Mondays there will not be a class on these two other Mondays.

The mats are moved, ready for the first class at the new venue. My thanks to Hugh, Nigel (and his family) and Mairi for their invaluable assistance.

On Friday Mairi and I erected a mat storage box in the cupboard off the side of the Owen Barnes room. It's a bit cramped and we've only got the space for the one set of mats at present but it will have to do.
