So you think you're 'ard
Tuesday, 27 October, 2009 - 20:30 Alan

I had this link passed on to me by a fellow aikido instructor.

I already knew of the marathon monks, having read John Stevens book but it's interesting to see the video report on them.

Follow this link to see a brief documentary about the marathon monks on YouTube.

Accordingly there will not be a class on Monday 31st August.

Changes to SAUK Membership fees
Monday, 24 August, 2009 - 16:32 Alan

The Shobu Aikido Annual Membership fees have gone up in July. They've been static for over 5 years so it's not an unbearable increase.

Annual fees (July 2009)
type fee
standard £25
unwaged £15
junior (<18) £10

The other news is that SAUK has become part of The International Takemusu Aikido Federation (ITAF). This is a European Organisation created by a number of high ranking Aikidoka (including Pierre Chasang) who seek to create a European based organisation for the proliferation of Aikido without direct links to the Hombu, so that fees paid into ITAF as a parent organisation at least in part, come back to SAUK.

Spring Bank Holiday
Monday, 11 May, 2009 - 17:10 Alan

We don't hold classes on Bank Holiday Mondays as there's a long running history of poor attendance on Bank Holidays so there will not be a class on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday 25th May.

New web-site layout
Wednesday, 29 April, 2009 - 08:02 Alan

I've finally got around to implementing the new web site layout and here it is.

I spent ages trying to get Microsoft's awful IE web-browser to handle images as bullets in lists and finally gave up in disgust and left IE just showing the standard disc. This means that IE user will NOT see the site as it was meant to be - I've got better things to do with my life than to try and work around Microsoft's bugs.

If you are stuck with being Microsoft user, please, please download a real standards-compliant web browser such as Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org) or Opera (http://www.opera.com) and just use IE to keep your system patched.
