Classes
Monday 7:15 - 9:15 p.m.
(bank holidays excepted)
The Owen Barnes Room
Breckland Rd., New Costessey
Norwich NR5 0RW
(L to R) Breckland Hall and the Owen Barnes Room: as seen from the entrance to the car parkThe Owen Barnes Room is owned by the Costessey Parish Council and is part of the New Costessey Centre in Breckland Road. The Owen Barnes room itself the rear of the the two rooms behind the Costessey Library (the other being Breckland Hall).
Please note that the class start time of 7:15 p.m. is most definitely the class start time - i.e. by this time the mats should be laid and students changed and ready to start training. All students are expected to assist with putting down the mats and preparing the dojo for practice and should plan to arrive at the Owen Barnes room no later than 7:05 p.m.
Note also that we do not hold classes on Mondays which are bank holidays. Experience has taught us that, no matter how many students indicate that they will attend a class on one of these nights, actual attendance is minimal.
Class fees are £5.00 with an annual membership fee of £25 (£15 for students or unemployed)
The New Costessey Centre has excellent parking and is easily accessible by public transport.
Getting there
By car
From outside Norwich leave the A47 southern bypass at the Norfolk Showground exit and follow the A1074 directions towards Norwich.
From within Norwich take the Dereham Rd. (A1074) out of Norwich.
At the Bowthorpe roundabout on the Dereham Rd. (A1074) take the exit signposted to New Costessey and follow the signs to the New Costessey Community Centre and Library. Turn into and park in the New Costessey Centre. To see a map showing full details details follow this link.
By bus
The number 19 and 20 bus services for Costessey follow the same route in opposite directions and both stop directly outside the New Costessey Centre. Take the 19 out from Norwich and the 20 to return - otherwise you'll have a long wait at the bottom of Longwater Lane in the middle of Costessey.
As these buses run less frequently in the evening you may wish to use the Number 16 service which goes out to Queens Hills. The 16 doesn't actually turn into Costessey but all these services stop on the Dereham Rd. opposite the end of Breckland Rd. and it's not a long walk from there to the New Costessey Centre.

By bike (from Norwich)
Most cyclists will work out routes to suit themselves to avoid the worst of the traffic and the hills where possible but ...
You can get to Costessey using the Marriots Way cycle route to avoid main road traffic. You will then have to negotiate your way through New Costessey to the Owen Barnes Room yourself. To see a map showing full details follow this link
I haven't checked out cycle storage yet and I'll post details when I get chance.
